Cadillac 2014 ELR [w/Gallery]

Wed, 16 Jan 2013

Cadillac unveils the 2014 ELR today at the North American International Auto Show.

The new luxury coupe is almost unchanged from the Converj Concept - unveiled at the 2009 NAIAS - upon which it is based and features Cadillac's signature vertical headlamps and rear lamps. The flush fascia and grille – with active shutters behind the grille opening – combined with tapered fascia corners and a raked windshield mean that drag is reduced to 0.305.

A prominent, sweeping character line decorates the side of the ELR, starting behind the front wheelarches and reaching back into the rear lamps. The conspicuous rocker helps highlight the rakish look of the car. In the rear, sharp edges and a spoiler also manage airflow.

Inside, Cadillac has used a selection of materials including authentic chrome and wood accents – and available carbon fiber trim – as well as a sueded microfiber headliner and a steering wheel covered in leather and sueded microfiber. The instrument panel integrates both CUE touch-screen interface and an eight-inch reconfigurable instrument cluster and curves around to the full-length center console.
